Suspecting that an employee was passing sensitive information regarding a potential merger to an adversative third party, Int Research was approached by prominent board members to undertake an investigation into perceived bribery and corruption activity.
A former undercover police officer, with extensive experience working with the Senior Fraud Office (SFO) was directed to lead the case. After extracting a full and comprehensive brief from the client, a program of surveillance monitoring was suggested, with each serial choreographed in response to intelligence-led information.
Complementing the meticulous work of the surveillance teams, investigators – using Network Link Analysis software – quickly built up a picture of activity surrounding the suspected employee. Significantly, it was established that contact was being regularly made with a known ‘subject of interest’, identified by the clients as a person believed to harbour illicit intentions.
Int Research was instrumental in curtailing the passing of further information, an intervention that ultimately led to a tightening of internal procedures regarding unauthorised access to restricted data, and the introduction of more intensive due diligence measures.
